A man in his 50s was killed when he was crushed under a trailer on which he was working in the driveway of his Yorba Linda home, authorities said.
The accident was reported at 8:40 p.m. Monday at a home in the 4800 block of Redfield Road, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority.
“Something happened and he was crushed under part of the trailer,” Concialdi said. “His adult son found him.”
The OCFA sent three Urban Search and Rescue units to try to free the man but he was pronounced dead shortly after their arrived, Concialdi said.
Two USAR units waited for the Orange County coroner’s office to complete its investigation before lifting the trailer off of the man.
Members of the Trauma Intervention Program were at the home counseling the man’s grief-stricken wife and sons, Concialdi said.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department was on the scene, said Lt. Joe Gaul.
“This is not a homicide or traffic collision,” Gaul said. “It is more of a coroner’s investigation of an accidental death right now. We are documenting it in case there is an issue later.”
Gaul described the trailer as one used by landscape workers with a hydraulic lift that enables it to dump a load.
