Three men and a 15-year-old boy were in custody Thursday on suspicion of a Fullerton home burglary that triggered a standoff with police that lasted for about five hours before the last suspect was rounded up.
Police quickly arrested three of the suspects upon responding about noon Wednesday to a call about several suspicious males in the 1400 block of West Southgate Avenue, according to Fullerton police Sgt. Kathryn Hamel.
Romell Knutt, 21, and Allen Cato, 19, both of Los Angeles, were arrested along with the teen, whose name was not released because of his age, Hamel said.
The fourth suspect, 21-year-old Steven Sanchez of Paramount, allegedly tossed a loaded handgun stolen from a house on Southgate Avenue and ran into a nearby, unoccupied church in the 1800 block of West Avenue, Hamel said. SWAT officers took Sanchez into custody about 5:30 p.m., she said.
Investigators suspect the crew was involved in at least one other burglary and perhaps more, according to Hamel, who said police also recovered jewelry stolen in Wednesday’s break-in.
