An investigation was underway Thursday in Anaheim, where firefighters put out a non-injury fire at an apartment building where a marijuana stash was being kept, authorities said.

The fire burned in a first-floor apartment and garage on West Blue Violet Court beginning around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday and was extinguished in around 20 minutes by 30 firefighters from the Anaheim Fire Department and Orange County Fire Authority, said Anaheim Police Sgt. Baron Wyatt.

“There was a heavy odor of marijuana present when firefighters arrived at the scene,” Wyatt said. “Police will be checking to see if the marijuana and what was being done with it caused the fire.”

There were numerous butane containers at the site which could have been used to extract marijuana oil, a news videographer reported from the scene.

Anaheim police and arson investigators were at the scene this morning. No arrests stemming from the discovery of the marijuana stash were immediately reported.
