A three-day enforcement operation to fight a rise in gang violence in Santa Ana resulted in the arrests of 31 gang members on various charges, police announced.
The Santa Ana Police Department’s operation from last Tuesday through Thursday also recovered seven guns and an assault rifle with an altered serial number.
In the first seven weeks of 2016, the Santa Ana Police Department reported increased levels of violent crime throughout the city, including a homicide and two officer-involved shootings involving gang members.
A gang unit detective was wounded by gunfire during one effort.
