A car crashed into several sand barrels and blocked lanes on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Irvine for a time Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash took place on the southbound 405 Freeway at the Irvine Center Drive offramp, just north of the Irvine Spectrum Center, about 4 a.m., according to the CHP.
The crash spread sand and debris over the carpool and No. 1 and 2 lanes. A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 4:23 a.m. The No. 1 and 2 lanes were reopened by 5:30 a.m. The CHP said the carpool lane would remain closed until 6:30 a.m., but, in fact, it was reopened by 5:45 a.m.
A sweeper was transported to the scene to clean up the lanes.
