A big rig crashed and overturned on the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway at the junction with the Garden Grove (57) Freeway in Orange Tuesday morning, temporarily blocking a number of freeway lanes on the 5 Freeway and injuring one driver, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The crash took place about 12:25 a.m., when the truck spilled its load of metal debris, cabinets and car parts on the freeway, shutting down the No. 2, 3, 4, and 5 lanes of the northbound 5, according to the CHP.

One driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment, the CHP reported.

A SigAlert was declared at 12:42 a.m., and Caltrans sent a sweeper to clean up the debris. The freeway was cleared and the SigAlert lifted about 5:05 a.m., according to the CHP, which was investigating the accident.
