Three people were injured when an apparent runaway vehicle crashed into a pole and another car in Anaheim Thursday.

The collisions happened just before 11 a.m. at Euclid Street and Katella Avenue, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt.

A 66-year-old woman told police her vehicle began accelerating in the southbound lanes of Euclid approaching Katella and she couldn’t control it, Wyatt said. The vehicle went onto a sidewalk before slamming into a light standard, striking another car and rolling over, Wyatt said.

The woman and her husband, who was in the passenger seat, sustained non- life-threatening injuries, Wyatt said. The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and was also taken to an area hospital.

Witnesses helped the motorists out of their vehicles, Wyatt said.

Both thoroughfares had to be shut down while investigators worked to determine what caused the crash, Wyatt said.
