A 27-year-old parolee suspected of participating in a robbery of a Garden Grove medical marijuana dispensary was arrested, police said.
Edward Hightower, 27 of Long Beach, was arrested Tuesday in Paramount where he was found with the gun stolen from the security guard of the Organic House, according to Lt. Bob Bogue of the Garden Grove Police Department.
Hightower was booked into Orange County Jail.
Two suspects, one armed with a handgun, entered the medical marijuana dispensary at 9840 Garden Grove Blvd. around 10:30 a.m. Sunday and immediately disarmed the security guard and forced him to the ground, Bogue said.
Two female employees were also forced to the ground. One suspect watched over the three employees while another suspect put a large quantity of marijuana in a duffel bag, Bogue said.
Cash, the security guard’s firearm and three employees’ cellphones were also taken, Bogue said.
Police are still seeking the second suspect, who was described as being in his late 20s or early 30s with a heavy build. The suspect vehicle is a newer model black four-door Toyota Camry with chrome rims.
Anyone with information on the case was asked to call Detective John Casaccia at (714) 741-5840.
