Sheriff’s detectives were searching Saturday for a man who allegedly exposed himself near a Mission Viejo elementary school, but he fled when deputies arrived and remains at large.

Deputies were called to investigate a report of a suspicious person in a creek west of Glen Yermo Elementary School, according to Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Mark Stichter.

When they arrived at approximately noon on Friday, they saw a man who was facing the school and appeared to have his pants pulled down, indecently exposing himself.

He fled as the deputies approached and a search on the ground and from the air proved fruitless, Stichter said.

“After further investigation, deputies learned of two additional indecent exposure incidents approximately one week ago in the same area in Mission Viejo,” Stichter said. “Both victims were females in grade school.”

The descriptions of the suspects in those cases matched that of the suspect who fled Friday and a composite sketch has been worked up.

Anyone with information about this person’s identity or information that may assist in the investigation is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Department at (714) 628-7170. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
