A California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was involved in a collision with a sedan on Grand Avenue near the Garden Grove (22) Freeway Tuesday, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The crash occurred about 12:45 p.m. The nine-year veteran was northbound on Grand, responding to a call of a possible suicidal person threatening to jump from an Orange (57) Freeway overpass, when he collided with a silver Honda Accord, according to CHP Officer Florentino Olivera.
Officers never found any evidence of someone threatening to jump, he said.
The officer sustained “major to moderate” injuries, “but he’s alert and talking,” Olivera said.
Metronet dispatchers said two people were injured, including the officer, and both were taken to area hospitals. A condition report on the other patient was unavailable.
