Two men were behind bars Friday on suspicion of stealing batteries from multiple RVs since March in Garden Grove and several other Orange County and Inland Empire cities.
Reyes was being held on $120,000 bail and Guzman’s bail was set at $120,500.
The two were accused of driving through residential neighborhoods and using large wire cutters to pluck out batteries from the recreational vehicles, a process that police say led to costly repairs for the owners.
Several home surveillance systems caught the alleged thefts on video, leading police to look for a black 2005 Chevy Silverado pickup with dealer paper plates. Also, a neighborhood watch group used its social media page to share images of the suspects and the vehicle, police said.
Police tracked down the vehicle and began surveillance of it until the two men were arrested. When the two were taken into custody, police found evidence of cut battery cables, burglary tools and narcotics, authorities said.
