A two-acre brush fire briefly threatened some homes in Laguna Niguel Tuesday afternoon before crews got the upper hand.
The blaze started for unknown reasons just after 1 p.m. at Cabot Road and Paseo De La Colinas and started moving uphill toward homes, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
Eight residents took cover at Laguna Hills Middle School while about 60 firefighters, with the help of helicopter water drops, battled the flames, said OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz. They got the flames under control in about an hour, he said.
No one was hurt and no homes were damaged, Kurtz said.
