A search was underway Friday for a gunman who wore a black shower cap as he robbed a bank in Tustin.
The robber entered the US Bank branch in the 13400 block of Newport Avenue about 11:32 a.m. Thursday and handed a teller a note demanding money, according to Tustin Police Sgt. Andrew Birozy.
“As the teller was reading the note, the suspect produced a black handgun,” Birozy said. “After the robbery, the suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries.”
The gunman is described as black, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10, weighing 165 to 190 pounds. He wore a black shower cap, prescription glasses, a black shirt, dark pants and black shoes.
Police did not speculate about why the robber wore the shower cap during the robbery.
