Orange County officials and members of the gay community Sunday were getting back to normal after the county’s first gay pride parade went off pretty much problem-free amid stepped-up security in the wake of the recent mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando.
The parade, on Main Street in downtown Santa Ana between Washington and Third streets, experienced no disturbances or arrests, Santa Ana Police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna told City News Service.
The Saturday parade was part of the OC Pride Festival, which continued through the evening hours at the Yost Theater at 307 N. Spurgeon St. The headline performer was singer-songwriter Steve Grand.
Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, was scheduled to speak as well.
