Beachgoers were ushered out of the water Tuesday afternoon when a 10-foot shark was sighted near Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point.

The shark was spotted about 3:50 p.m. about 300 yards off Salt Creek Point, a sheriff’s lieutenant said.

He said the water was declared off-limits due to the shark’s size, which indicates it is more mature and inclined to be a human predator.
