An advisory was in place at Salt Creek Beach Wednesday following a shark sighting Tuesday.

A 10-foot shark was spotted about 300 yards off the coast of Salt Creek Point late Tuesday afternoon, prompting lifeguards to get everyone out of the water, according to Marisa O’Neil, a spokeswoman for OC Parks.

There were no more shark sightings through the rest of the afternoon and evening, O’Neil said.

Warning signs have been posted at Salt Creek Beach, which will remain open for the time being, O’Neil said.

“As of this morning, the beach is open but it is under advisory until at least 3 p.m. today,” O’Neil said.

Signs have been posted along Salt Creek and Strands beaches.
