A male passenger was slightly injured by shattered glass when a car was hit by what appeared to be a shot from a pellet gun on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway in Garden Grove, authorities said Thursday.
The attack took place about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on the eastbound 22 Freeway near the Harbor Boulevard exit, according to a Garden Grove Fire Department dispatcher. The injured man was treated at the scene but was not transported to a hospital, the dispatcher said.
Coni Rayo told City News Service she was driving the car when the shot was fired.
“We were heading eastbound on the 22 Freeway when the shot hit the window,” Rayo said. “The glass shattered and my passenger was hit in the face.”
Rayo said she was just about to exit the freeway at Harbor Boulevard when the incident occurred.
“We pulled over and called the CHP,” Rayo said. “They came out and took a report but we don’t know where the shot came from.”
Garden Grove police also responded to the scene, according to the fire department dispatcher.
