Two motorcyclists died within 12 hours of each other in Trabuco Canyon, authorities said Sunday.
Paramedics were dispatched at 7:20 a.m. to a winding canyon road in the 30900 block of Trabuco Canyon Road, where a motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Orange County Fire Capt. Steve Concialdi. The motorcyclist crashed into a stone wall that runs parallel to the canyon road, Concialdi said.
“The message is clear: motorists have to slow down on that road,” he said. “It’s a beautiful highway, but when people are driving too fast, accidents can occur.”
A little more than 12 hours earlier, a man riding a 2002 Harley- Davidson motorcycle was killed when he allowed his bike to drift into opposing lanes of traffic, where it smashed head onto a Honda Accord, a California Highway Patrol dispatcher.
The crash on Live Oak Canyon Road, just south of Trabuco Ridge Road occurred about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, she said.
The motorcyclist was going northbound on Live Oak Canyon Road, at unknown speed, when he lost control of his vehicle while going around a curb and crossed into an opposing lane of traffic to strike a silver 2001 Honda Accord.
Paramedics rushed the motorcyclist, described as a man in his late 30s, to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo where he was pronounced dead, Concialdi said.
It was not immediately known if the driver of the Honda was injured in the crash, according to the CHP dispatcher.
