Fountain Valley-based Hyundai Motor America has donated a $25,000 “two-for-one” matching gift to the Fountain Valley Historical Society to help preserve the city’s oldest building, officials announced Wednesday.
The historical society raised $20,000 for the 118-year-old Courreges Ranch Tank House. Moving the historic home to Heritage Park behind city hall will cost about $70,000, officials said.
“We are so grateful for the support of Hyundai and the rest of our community in saving this historic water tower,” Fountain Valley Mayor Cheryl Brothers, who is also co-president of the historical society. “We look forward to celebrating with our community on Saturday, as we celebrate the preservation of a unique piece of our city’s history.”
A “slow-moving parade” will be conducted for the moving of the water tank on Saturday. The parade will start at Courreges Ranch and end with the historic facility’s new home in Heritage Park.
