A water-slide arms race is underway at local theme parks, as Knott’s Berry Farm’s Soak City will add several new water-slide attractions next summer, officials disclosed Wednesday.

One of the two new water-slide towers, Shore Break, will be seven stories high and feature six different rides, officials said.

Four slides on the 60-foot high tower will feature an “Aqua Launch” chamber that has guests experience a “high-speed, almost vertical free fall through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume,” officials said. There are also “dueling tube slides,” officials added.

The Wedge slide tower will be on the location of the current Pacific Spin and will feature an “open air family raft ride,” officials said.

The attractions will be ready for the summer season beginning in May of next year.

Knott’s will also update shaded seating areas, cabanas and the Longboard’s Grill eatery in the water park. Construction will begin Sept. 12 with a “grand re-opening” in the summer of next year.
