A gun-toting robber wearing all black and a Halloween mask popularized by the “Scream” horror movies held up a Placentia gas station Monday, police said.
The robbery occurred at a Chevron gas station at 313 W. Orangethorpe Ave. about 1:20 a.m.
The suspect, who got away with a small amount of cash, had a handgun concealed in his waistband, police said.
The suspect, who is about 5-foot-10 with a thin build, was clad in a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes.
The Scream horror movie mask is based on the four famed Scream paintings by Edvard Munch from the late nineteenth century. The fourth version of the Scream, a pastel from 1895, sold for more than $119 million in 2012, one of the most expensive paintings ever sold at auction.
Anyone with information about the masked gas station robber was asked to call detectives at (714) 993-8146. Anonymous tips may be made through Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS.
