A 66-year-old man, possibly driving drunk, was fatally injured Sunday when he drove his car into a brick wall in Santa Ana.

The motorist was driving a four-door Toyota Camry south on Cedar Street, approaching the intersection at Edinger Avenue. His vehicle smashed into the brick wall, according to Santa Ana police Cmdr. Jeffrey Smith.

Police were dispatched the scene of the crash at 5:54 a.m., Smith said.

Firefighters extricated Pheach Phath, a Santa Ana resident, from his car and paramedics rushed him to Orange County Global Medical Center. Phath died from his injuries at 6:35 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.

Alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, Smith said.
