A 2-year-old girl who fell into a swimming pool was rescued by her 5-year-old brother, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

The young girl was with her brother and mother when fell into the water at the pool at 1000 Crested Bird, OC Fire Authority spokesman Stephen Horner said.

She was submerged for less than a minute before her older brother, who celebrating his fifth birthday party, pulled her out, Horner said. The fire department responded about 5:15 p.m. Sunday and assisted in reviving the girl with CPR life saving measures.

“She is now conscious and breathing and at the hospital,” Horner said.

Horner could not say if a lifeguard was on duty at the pool.
