As Halloween approaches, police Tuesday were looking for zombie-masked, armed suspects in two robberies that happened within a few blocks from one another in Garden Grove, but it’s unknown if the incidents were related.

The first robbery was reported at 9:28 p.m. Monday in the 14000 block of Euclid Street, where a male victim said he was sitting in his vehicle waiting for his girlfriend to get off work when he was approached by two suspects, according to Sgt. Vincente Vaicaro of the Garden Grove Police Department.

The suspects, who were wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks, entered his vehicle and robbed him at gunpoint, taking his iPhone 6 and other belongings, Vaicaro said. The suspects then fled on foot. It wasn’t clear what type of masks the robbers were wearing, although suspects in the second incident were wearing zombie masks, according to officials.

At 9:57 p.m. Monday, officers were dispatched to the 13500 block of Shirley Street — the site of another robbery. Responding officers found a male victim who said he was in the area after agreeing to meet up with a stranger to purchase an iPhone 7, Vaicaro said.

The victim met the supposed seller, who is described as a white or light- skinned Hispanic male in his late teens with short curly brown hair.

During the transaction the victim noticed three additional suspects standing behind the seller wearing dark clothing and zombie masks, Vaicaro said. Two of the suspects were seen holding handguns and one was holding a shotgun, Vaicaro added.

The suspects fled the scene after the supposed seller took the victim’s money, Vaicaro said.

No one was injured in either incident, he said.

Anyone with information on either of the robberies was asked to call Garden Grove police Lt. Tom Da Re at (714) 741-5786.
