Two people were hospitalized Thursday with injuries they suffered in a suspected DUI crash in Dana Point.
One of the injured was the suspected drunken driver who was not wearing a seat belt and who authorities said ran a red light around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Selva Road, crashing into another vehicle and seriously injuring its driver.
A third vehicle was involved but the driver was unharmed, said Lt. Scott Ostash of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspected drunken driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was taken to the hospital to be treated for a facial injury, Ostash said, adding that he will be arrested on suspicion of DUI once he is released from the hospital. The woman driving the vehicle he initially struck suffered a fractured pelvis, he said.
