One person was left homeless after a giant blaze erupted in an Irvine garage in the pre-dawn darkness Friday and burned into the residence.
Orange County Fire Authority firefighters arrived on the scene shortly before 2:50 a.m. near the intersection of Bunker Hill and Revere and knocked down the fire within 15 minutes.
The fire extended to the attic space of the home, said fire Capt. Larry Kurtz.
The residence’s sole occupant was not home at the time of the fire, Kurtz said. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
