A fire scorched about a half-acre of brush Friday in Laguna Beach.
The fire was reported about 6:30 p.m. behind the Laguna Food Pantry in the 20600 block of Laguna Canyon Road, according to Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority, which was in joint command with the Laguna Beach Fire Department.

The fire was burning uphill and away from buildings, so no structures were threatened, Kurtz said.
Winds were light and about 85 firefighters were at the scene and a helicopter with night vision capability was making water drops as the fire burned in light to medium vegetation, Kurtz said.
