
Southern California Edison said 437 Cypress customers were without power Monday.
The outage was reported at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 4700 block of Orange Avenue after two transformers exploded, according to a news videographer at the scene. Up to 2,000 customers may have been affected initially. Edison workers restored power to most of the customers by about 1:15 a.m., the utility reported.
Equipment problems were also noted in Fullerton, Brea and Santa Ana, according to Edison’s Outage Center.
About 595 customers in Fullerton lost power at 6:32 p.m. Sunday, 174 Brea customers lost power at 10:32 p.m. and 13 Santa Ana customers lost power at 8:17 p.m., according to Edison.
