A stubborn fire burned for three hours inside a sober living house in Costa Mesa and displaced a number of residents, but no one was injured, Costa Mesa firefighters said.
The fire was inside the home, in the 2200 block of Elden Avenue, and began about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Costa Mesa Fire Capt. Chris Coates told the Orange County Register.
Much of the fire was centered around the fireplace and chimney, the paper reported. The fire also extended into the walls and the attic of the two- story house.
The fire was so intense that firefighters could not immediately enter the home to fight the fire, according to the Register.
The fire was finally knocked down about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Coates.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
