A collision involving a school bus and three other vehicles Tuesday in the suburban Orange County community of Lake Forest sent three victims to nearby hospitals, but the students on the bus escaped harm.

The collision happened just before 8 a.m. at Muirlands Boulevard and Entrados Drive, said California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada.

There were six children on the bus who were 8- to 10-years-old and they all escaped injury, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.

A woman in her late 40s who was driving a minivan involved in the crash had to be extricated from her vehicle, Kurtz said. A boy about 9- to 10-years- old in the minivan was also hurt, but his injuries were not considered serious, Kurtz added.

A 17-year-old boy driving another car involved in the crash was taken to an area hospital as a “moderate trauma” patient, Kurtz said.

None of the injuries were considered life-threatening, Kurtz said.
