A man and a woman in their 70s in a small sedan were killed Monday in a two-vehicle crash in Westminster, while the other motorist suffered moderate injuries.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to Beach Boulevard at Madison Avenue at 11:18 a.m. and found a four-door vehicle and a convertible had crashed, said Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.
“We had a vehicle going southbound on Beach Boulevard, at Madison Avenue, that decided to make a left hand turn onto Madison.
“They (the couple in their 70s) made a left turn in front of traffic. That’s what it appears to be right now,” said Cmdr. Bill Collins of the Westminster Police Department.
A man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene, and paramedics rushed a woman in her 70s, in traumatic arrest, to an area hospital. She died either en route to the hospital or at the hospital, Collins said.
A woman in her 50s was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries, according to Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.
One of the cars smashed into a flower shop, and a building inspector from City of Westminster was dispatched to determine the structural stability of the building, Kurtz said.
