A woman who allegedly abducted her 5-year-old daughter at a Glendora school Friday was later arrested in Irvine, where the child was found unharmed.
Police were alerted to the abduction about 9:35 a.m. by the principal at Sellers Elementary School at 500 N. Loraine Ave.
“The mother, Breanna Shiree Arsenault … was seen by staff dragging her 5-year-old child away to an awaiting vehicle,” according to Glendora police Detective Chris Farino.
The principal noted the license plate and called police, Farino said.
The child’s father has sole custody of the 5-year-old and Arsenault, 31, has supervised visitation “due to several prior narcotics-related arrests,” he said.
Detectives learned Arsenault and the child switched vehicles in La Verne. They tracked her to a Walmart store on Technology Drive in Irvine and took her into custody, Farino said.
The child was found “safe and unharmed,” he said.
“Detectives are still investigating and are reuniting the child with her father,” Farino said.
Arsenault was booked at the Glendora Police Department jail on suspicion of child stealing.
