A 10-year-old boy was grabbed by a man as he walked to Ladera Ranch Elementary School Wednesday morning, but managed to get away, Orange County Sheriff’s Department officials reported.
The fifth-grader was walking to school about 8:50 a.m. when the suspect grabbed him from behind about a block away from the school, sheriff’s deputies said.
The boy kicked and screamed as he managed to get away and run home to tell his mother about the attempted abduction.
The boy told investigators the suspect has a dark complexion and may be of African-American descent with a thin build and tattoos on his hands, sheriff’s officials said. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket, pants and boots.
Investigators asked anyone in the area to check to see if they had any surveillance video that could help them track down the suspect.
