It could have been a scene from a TV cop-car chase, but it was for real: Two police officers sustained minor injuries when their patrol cars collided early Wednesday while racing to a report of a stolen vehicle in Orange.
Authorities did not disclose if the police cars were responding with red lights and siren.
The crash occurred around 12:05 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Batavia Street, said Lt. Dan Adams of the Orange Police Department.
Both officers were traveling alone in their vehicles and no other cars were involved in the crash, Adams said. The officers were taken to local hospitals to be treated for minor injuries, he added.
The cause of the crash was under investigation and the California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation at the Orange Police Department’s request, Adams said.
There was no word of what happened to the reported stolen vehicle that sparked the incident.
