A 28-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with a pickup truck in Placentia was identified Friday by the Orange County coroner’s office as Nicholas Truex of Placentia.

The crash occurred about 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, as the truck was making a left turn from Chapman Avenue into Murray Street, according to Sgt. Bryce Angel of the Placentia Police Department and the coroner’s office.

Truex’s motorcycle, which was eastbound on Murray Street, crossed into the intersection and struck the pickup, Angel said.

Truex was pronounced dead at the scene, Angel said.

The pickup truck driver, a 57-year-old Placentia man, sustained minor injuries, Angel said.

“There is no indication that alcohol was a factor in the collision,” Angel said.
