The Coroner’s Office Saturday released the name of the homeless man who was beaten to death by another homeless man who was taken into custody in connection with the assault.
The man was identified as Javier Martinez, 40, according to the coroner’s office, adding that Martinez’s 41st birthday would have been Feb. 19.
The Coroner’s Office had no place of residence for Martinez.
The attack occurred on Brookhurst Street near the Santa Ana (5) Freeway just after 4 p.m. Friday, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department.
The motive was under investigation, Wyatt said.
The suspect has not been identified.
