Arraignment is scheduled Tuesday for a 22-year-old man accused of groping a 15-year-old girl who was targeted while walking to school last month in Brea.
Christian Moreno of La Habra is facing felony charges of sexual penetration of a child older than 14 by a foreign object and by force, kidnapping to commit a sex offense, kidnapping, sexual battery and assault of a minor with the intent to commit a sex offense.
The teen was walking to school about 7:45 a.m. Jan. 9 when she was grabbed from behind and groped in the 1800 block of W. Skywood Street, according to Brea Police Lt. Darrin Devereux.
The suspect ran to a car and drove away. After police released photos of the getaway vehicle, tips came in that led detectives to Moreno, who was arrested on a warrant about 3:30 p.m. Thursday near Brea and State College boulevards, the lieutenant said.
Moreno, who’s being held on $1 million bail, is also facing a probation violation allegation. Moreno pleaded guilty to misdemeanor lewd conduct in a public place on Jan. 13, 2015. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, placed on three years of formal probation and was also ordered to participate in a sex offender program, according to court records.
As part of the plea deal, a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure was dropped, according to court records.
