A 24-year-old woman suspected of setting a series of fires in Fullerton was charged Wednesday with four arsons and two attempted arsons, as well as drug charges.

Esther Eunjung Cha of Fullerton faces four counts of arson and two counts of attempts to burn, all felonies, and one misdemeanor count each of possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arson fires she’s charged with setting occurred on Feb. 8, Feb. 14, Feb. 15 and Feb. 16, while the arson attempts occurred last Sunday, according to the criminal complaint.

Fullerton police have said 28 fires set in the city since Sept. 1 are considered suspicious or arsons. Of those, half were in the 1200 block of North Gilbert Street, including the two  recent attempts, according to Fullerton police Sgt. Jon Radus.

Police set up surveillance and caught Cha allegedly try to start a fire about 3:50 a.m. Sunday in a trash bin and attempt to ignite bushes under an electrical panel next to an apartment complex, Radus said.
