A Costa Mesa man was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of stabbing two victims for no apparent reason over a two-day period, police reported.
Jose Oscar Medina, 34, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and elder abuse and was being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, according to Costa Mesa police.
Medina was arrested Monday, a short time after he allegedly stabbed a 63- year-old man twice about 10:30 a.m. at a 99 Cents Only Store at 2180 Harbor Blvd, police said. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Medina is also accused of stabbing a 30-year-old man about 8:40 p.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Park Avenue. The victim sustained stab wounds to his right arm and chest area that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
Medina did not know the men and allegedly stabbed them without provocation, police said.
