The U.S. Coast Guard Tuesday was seeking information about a possible missing boater near Dana Point.

The boater was supposed to return to shore Sunday night, but he never showed up.

Officials received word about 1 p.m. Monday from a co-worker of Paul Steinart that the sailor had left from Santa Barbara on Saturday morning and was due to arrive at Dana Point Harbor by Sunday evening.

Steinart was reported to own two sailboats, a 28-foot Pearson and a 33- foot Tripp, but it was unknown which vessel he was aboard and in any case, he is without a radio and neither boat has an engine, according to the Coast Guard.

Anyone with information about Steinart or his vessels was urged to call the Coast Guard’s Los Angeles-Long Beach command center at (310) 521-3801 or Dana Point Harbor Patrol at (949) 248-2222.
