The Coroner’s Office Sunday released the name of a man who was killed while walking on the Costa Mesa (55) Freeway in Santa Ana.

The pedestrian was identified as Oscar Bonilla, 30, a resident of Tustin, according to the coroner’s office.

The crash occurred a little after 1:20 a.m. Friday on the northbound freeway, south of Edinger Avenue.

Bonilla was walking against traffic in the slow lane when he was struck by a white mini-van, according to Sgt. Jeff Beam of the California Highway Patrol.

Paramedics rushed him to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he died from his injuries at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, according to the coroner’s office.

Bonilla died four days from his 31st birthday, according to the coroner’s office.
