Two boys suspected of forcibly removing a person’s necklace at a Garden Grove shopping center were caught as they fled and police said they match the description of suspects in several similar crimes.
Officers and detectives responded Thursday afternoon to the robbery scene in the 9900 block of Westminster Avenue, according to Garden Grove Police Sgt. Ray Bex.
“The two juveniles had just committed the robbery by forcibly removing a necklace from the victim’s neck,” Bex said. “While fleeing on foot, the juveniles were apprehended.”
Police are investigating if the boys are responsible for similar robberies that have occurred in shopping center parking lots in the Garden Grove and Westminster area, Bex said.
More than 15 robberies involving necklaces being yanked from victims have occurred over the past few weeks, he said.
The arrested boys were booked into Orange County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery, Bex said
