Firefighters Tuesday were trying to figure out what started a blaze that injured one person in a fire in a Stanton apartment building that forced six residents from their homes.

The flames were reported in a first-floor unit at 7882 First St. at 9:52 p.m. Monday, according to Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.

The blaze was knocked down in 15 minutes by 24 firefighters, and confined to the first floor, Kurtz said.

One patient was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor smoke inhalation, Kurtz said.

Four adults and two children were displaced by the fire and there are potentially more displacements following an inspection from a city building inspector, according to Kurtz.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
