A fire broke out at a Huntington Beach apartment building Wednesday, but the building’s sprinkler system helped contain the blaze to one unit.
The fire erupted in the third-floor apartment just after 5:45 a.m. at 16171 Springdale St., according to Huntington Beach Fire Capt. Steven Teasdale.
Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority and Fountain Valley helped douse the blaze, which was spared by a portable air conditions, Teasdale said.
Paramedics treated one resident, who did not need to go to a hospital.
Teasdale said the fire served as a “great reminder” of the value of sprinkler systems and having them properly serviced.
