A 59-year-old man nearly drowned at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point Friday, but he was pulled out of the water by another beachgoer and taken to an area hospital.
Orange County Fire Authority firefighters were called about 10:45 a.m. to respond to the man who was having trouble in the water, according to OCFA Capt. Alan Wilkes.
The man’s son alerted lifeguards who rushed to help the man, but he had already been fished out of the water when they got there, Wilkes said.
The man regained consciousness and was taken to an area hospital, Wilkes said.
