The Coroner’s Office has released the name of a 63- year-old man in a wheelchair who was killed in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Stanton.

The man was identified as Arnold Pierce, coroner’s officials reported, adding that they had no place of residence for Pierce.

The crash was reported at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue, according to the OC Register.

Paramedics rushed Pierce to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died from his injuries at 3:13 p.m. Tuesday, according to the coroner’s office.

An Acura and a Nissan Murano were traveling south on Beach Boulevard when the Acura came into contact with the Nissan, causing the Acura to lose control and go up the curb and run over Pierce, sheriff’s Lt. Lane Lagaret told reporters at the scene.

The Acura continued along the sidewalk and onto Chapman Avenue before hitting parked cars and coming to a stop, Lagaret said. The driver of the Acura remained at the scene, the Register reported.

Lagaret said drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out as factors in the accident.
