A tip led to the arrest of a 25-year-old Huntington Beach bartender suspected of driving a car that struck and killed a man in Fountain Valley, police said Thursday.
Binh Ngo, 41, of Fountain Valley was fatally injured shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue, according to police. He died at the scene.
Surveillance video showed he was hit by an early 1990s red Ford Mustang, police said.
An informant called Huntington Beach police later Wednesday to report a red Mustang that was possibly the one involved in the crash.
Huntington Beach police responded and detained Justin German until Fountain Valley police arrived and took him took to their station for an interview.
“After he gave a statement, German was arrested for felony hit and run and he was booked into (the) Orange County Jail, according to Fountain Valley police Sgt. Mike Parsons.
The red Ford Mustang was towed and stored for evidence. Additional charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing at this time.”
German works as a bartender, according to sheriff’s inmate records.
