A 41-year-old Fullerton man who has a Nazi swastika tattoo on his right shoulder and a prior mayhem conviction has pleaded guilty to punching a man while yelling a racial slur in Fullerton and was immediately sentenced to a year in jail.
Tyson Theodore Mayfield pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor count of violating a victim’s civil rights and causing a violent injury, according to court records.
Mayfield approached the victim Sept. 4 and became agitated when he did not have a lighter the suspect could borrow, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Mayfield called the victim, who is Filipino and Turkish, a racial slur before repeatedly punching him, prosecutors said.
A witness called police and officers arrived and placed Mayfield under arrest.
Mayfield also has a 2008 mayhem conviction in Orange County, prosecutors said.
