Sheriff’s investigators are looking for an SUV they believe was involved in a hit-and-run collision in Stanton that left a 59-year- old pedestrian dead.

Daniel Becerra of Stanton was struck at 8:05 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Katella Avenue and died at a hospital, according to Jaimee Blashaw, public affairs manager for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Becerra was crossing the street against a red light when he was struck by a northbound vehicle, believed to be a gold or similar-colored 2007 GMC Yukon that left the scene, Blashaw said. The SUV sustained moderate damage to its front right passenger side, she said.

Anyone with information that could help investigators track down the driver was urged to call the sheriff’s department at (714) 647-7000. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Orange County Crime Stoppers by calling (855) TIP- OCCS.
