Electricity was knocked out to much of the Cal State Fullerton campus Tuesday, but most classes and activities were not affected by the wind-caused outage, a spokeswoman said.
Not every building on campus was affected by the power outage, which began just before noon, said Paula Selleck, a Cal State Fullerton spokeswoman.
“Classes are in session, the campus remains open,” Selleck said around 1 p.m.
The outage, which was reported at 11:40 a.m. and initially affected 2,794 customers, was due to high winds that flung a tree through power lines on Associated Road and Park Vista Court, said Southern California Edison spokeswoman Sally Jeun.
By 2:11 p.m., power had been restored to all but 594 customers, she said. Electricity was expected to be restored to all of the affected customers by Tuesday evening, she said.
The outage affected customers from Imperial Highway to the Orange (57) Freeway to Dorothy Lane and Brea Boulevard, Jeun said.
